Weight

Keeping an eye on your weight is important as it might be a sign of hormonal imbalance. When your hormones fluctuate, so does your weight. Estrogen levels affect your weight, particularly around menopause.

A hormonal imbalance can have a huge impact on your weight, and a big weight change can affect your hormonal balance, and may be caused by an underlying illness.

BMI

BMI stands for Body Mass Index and is a way to find out if you are overweight or underweight. The BMI test calculates a number that tells something about the relationship between your weight and height.

Note that the BMI number is an indicator and cannot be used by, for example, body builders, as their muscle mass gives them higher weight without being overweight, just as people with heavy bodybuilding may have a BMI number higher than 25, without being overweight.

Of course, people are built differently - so there is also a certain margin that your number may be within.

Overweight

If your BMI is over 25, you can test more thoroughly whether you should do something about your weight.

Underweight

On the other hand, if your BMI under 18.5 is referred to as underweight. If the figure is under 16, according to the World Health Organization, it is considered to be seriously underweight.

Be aware

The location and type of fat is important. If you just measure weight or BMI, you can underestimate the benefit to your health of losing weight.

What does overweight do to us?

If you are overweight, you will also often have more unhealthy fat in the blood, known as cholesterol that gives high blood pressure and may even end up forming marked blood clots.

Visceral fat is a type of body fat that's stored within the abdominal cavity. It's located near several vital organs, including the liver, stomach, and intestines. It can also build up in the arteries.

The fat we can't see (visceral fat) is the most dangerous fat. But what is the most effective way to fight internal, visceral fat that you cannot see or feel? The answer is simple: exercise.

Overweight can lead to several diceases like:

Rectus diastase

Rectus diastasis represents a division of the right and left sides of the abdominal muscles. A rectus diastasis occurs due to increased pressure from the inside towards the connective tissue linea alba that runs longitudinally through the abdominal muscles.

Diabetes

Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs when the pancreas is no longer. able to make insulin or when the body cannot make good use of the insulin it produces.

High blood pressure

High blood pressure is a common condition in which the long-term force of the blood against your artery walls is high enough that it may eventually cause health problems, such as heart disease.

Heart disease

Obesity has consistently been associated with an increased risk for metabolic diseases and cardiovascular disease. “An increase in body fat can directly contribute to heart disease through atrial enlargement, ventricular enlargement and atherosclerosis.

Blood clots

Obesity is a well-known risk factor for clots in deep veins (usually in the legs) and for pulmonary embolism, a clot in blood vessels of the lungs that can result in sudden death or strain on the heart.

Food

A food is something that provides nutrients. Nutrients are substances that provide: energy for activity, growth, and all functions of the body such as breathing, digesting food, and keeping warm; materials for the growth and repair of the body, and for keeping the immune system healthy.

Eating processed or fast food high in fat. not eating fruit, vegetables and unrefined carbohydrates, such as wholemeal bread and brown rice. drinking too much alcohol – alcohol contains a lot of calories, create overweight.

Exercise

Like food awareness, exercise is the best way to control your weight.

If you sleep every other night while eating a lot of sugar and low fat in the form of omega-6 fatty acids and e.g. stress on the job, and think that even in that cocktail you should also run a marathon, there is a danger that the body acknowledges with illness. Maybe not right away, but suddenly you get an Achilles tendon injury that will not heal.

But you can always start slowly. Walking is te best way to not over do it, if you are stressed or got joint problems.
